At PSI, we are confident about developing well rounded students who reflect the attributes of the IB Learner Profile. We are therefore intentional in how all of our students, from EC - Grade 12, participate in and contribute to various community service initiatives, either on or off campus.
In the PYP, taking action is one of the five Essential Elements and is often linked with units of inquiry. In the MYP and DP, community action is a compulsory requirement of the IB. For students in Grades 11 - 12, it is an essential component of the Creativity Activity Service (CAS) programme and forms part of the PSI graduation requirements.
Demonstrating care and positive action, through supporting the needs of vulnerable groups in society, forms a central focus of both our academic and extra curricular programmes. Students can actively learn new skills by working within the local and global community, towards improving the lives and wellbeing of others. As a result, they understand the importance of learning beyond the classroom and develop a sense of responsible citizenship.
In addition, throughout the academic year, Primary and Secondary students have the opportunity to apply for PTA grants to help fund student led service initiatives that are based at school or in the community.
