In preparation for our first visiting author this year, we are encouraging as many people as possible (parents and students) to read the book The Improbable Rise of Paco Jones, by Dominic Carillo, available on Amazon for $2.99

Dominic Carillo is the San Diego Book Award Winner in the category of Best Published Young Adult Fiction. He will be visiting PSI from Thursday, 25th January - Friday, 26th January. Dominic will carry out workshops for students in G4 - G10 focusing on the writing process. With Secondary School students, he will also discuss themes and issues that arise in his first book.

You can find out more about Dominic by visiting his website.

Read below for what other online reviewers had to say about Paco Jones.

Teen Voices:

"Paco Jones is realistically detailed and worded so that teenagers around the world can easily connect it to their experience. The story tackles 21st century problems and is exquisitely well plotted. The perspective the book takes will change your view on student life."

Christine Han, Grade 9

"Paco Jones was a great book for many reasons. The first one is that it lures you in. Every time you read a page you want to find out what happens on the next one, so it gets you into it. Second reason is that it is a very realistic story and the author really addresses a problem that could happen to many kids in real life like bullying or suicidal thoughts. Overall, it is a great book and I would definitely recommend it."

Elia Feghali, Grade 8
