January is already over! In North America tomorrow, 2 February is considered Groundhog Day. If you are not familiar with the holiday, it is when a groundhog (a large rodent-like animal) comes out of his burrow. As legend has it, if he sees a shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks. If it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early, and we are close to the end. Happy Groundhog Day and let's hope the groundhog sees its shadow tomorrow!
Also, congratulations to the PSI Panthers swim team. PSI hosted last week's local league (KSSL) swim meet where they won 10 Gold, 11 Silver and 11 Bronze medals. They also set 18 new PSI swim records and 7 new KSSL swim records in last week's swim meet! Way to go, swimmers!
Thank you to all who attended the PTA general meeting this week. We had an informative update from Rachel Caldwell, we began planning for the Spring Fundraising Gala, we heard from Olcum about the winners of the CISRI funding for round #2, we heard a report on the Green Team from Kendall Jackson, and had a riveting discussion around gender equality as presented by two parents, Maja Bosnic and Tawnia Ammar. If you would like more information about the meeting, please check next week's update for a link to the minutes, as well as MyPSI Parent Resources folder 'Parent Education Tuesday Videos' to watch the video of this meeting.
We have officially revealed the theme for this year's PTA Spring Fundraising Gala. This year we will be celebrating in style at a Black and White Ball!
