Dear Students, Parents and Community Members:

What a great week we have had following the February break! The Primary and Secondary School assemblies were both impressive celebrations of our students' commitment and achievements. Our honoured guests from the Djerela Centre and from the Centre for the Visually Impaired, shared superb performances with us. Our CAS Band 'wowed' the audience, too.

Congratulations also to our new Student Council presidents in the Secondary School:

High School: Andrew S - Grade 11

Middle School: Naomi N - Grade 6

We also enjoyed a very positive PTA meeting on Tuesday. From that meeting, I would like to highlight the upcoming Annual Fundraiser which will take place on April 6, at 6 o'clock in the evening. The venue is the Hilton Kyiv Hotel. Tickets cost UAH 3,000 per person or UAH 30,000 per table of 10 people. They can be purchased through the PSI Cashier, by bank transfer or through the PTA online payment system. Please join us at this much anticipated celebratory event which brings our PSI community together.

PSI is currently hosting the Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) Middle and High School Swimming Tournament. Seven teams from across the region have joined us to take part in this important 2-day event. I extend my sincerest thanks to all of the families who are hosting visitors. I also share my appreciation for the enormous amount of commitment and hard work that Athletics Director Ric Floyd and his team have shown to make this event possible.

We have plenty to look forward to next week as well:

Board of Governors Open Meeting

On Monday, 4 March, the PSI Board of Governors will hold their next evening meeting. We kindly invite all PSI community members to attend this open Board meeting.

Attendees will be able to experience a typical Board meeting and also have the opportunity to ask questions.

It is important that we know the number of people attending, so registration is required. Please email to do so.

The meeting will take place at 18:30 in the Auditorium at PSI. We will provide an agenda provided prior to the meeting for all registered participants.

Come along and hear about the latest Board projects and developments first hand!

We hope to see you there.

Director's Coffee

Please see the revised date for my next coffee morning. I look forward to seeing many of you there, and to a vibrant conversation and exchange of ideas.

Core Values Update:

Our focused core values sessions continue next week with our Primary and Secondary School student groups, our PSI staff group and our teaching assistants. Once all of the ideas and suggestions from our participants have been accumulated and analysed, we shall be contacting groups and individuals to take part in a final session, during which we shall identify and define the values identified as most important to PSI.

Future Forum

The Future is Now! Join us for an Exciting Celebration of Learning at PSI ~ SAVE THE DATE!

The title above has been chosen for the next Futures Forum (FF) event. Parents are cordially invited to join us on 19 March from 14:00 until 16:00. We shall be sharing some of the great work already underway in regards to the skills identified by many as most significant for the future (complex problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, emotional intelligence, service orientation, cognitive flexibility, etc.). The event will be opened by one of our own parents, Wladimir Klitschko, a former athlete and founder of F.A.C.E the Challenge. Following the opening, we shall have a student performance, after which the audience will be invited to visit the eclectic mix of booths run by both students and faculty. Please come along to celebrate a range of exciting learning opportunities offered at PSI and to find out more about teachers' and students' passions and interests. Parents of students taking part in the event will be notified by their section Principal in the near future.

REMINDERS - PSI School App - PSI Kyiv

Our Pechersk School International official school Application - PSI Kyiv has been active for two weeks, and we have received a great deal of positive feedback. Ideas for how we might improve the features further have also been very useful. Please keep these coming by contacting at your earliest convenience.

The PSI School App is an application for parental use. It provides easy access to the most essential school information in a time-saving and straightforward manner. Parents are able to see their student(s)' schedules, our weekly cafeteria menu, school contact details, daily bus timetables, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) events, Extra Curricular Activities (ECA), Physical and Health Education (PHE) updates, school calendars, notifications, etc. The information is continually updated, allowing PSI families to stay up-to-date with all things at Pechersk School International Kyiv.

Please download the App - PSI Kyiv from the App Store on your iphones and start to use it on a daily basis. (Your MyPSI login and password will be required.) NOTE: For now, there is only a version for Apple users. Following the trial, we shall also launch it for Android.
