Dear Students, Parents and Community Members:
I hope you are all enjoying the splendid sunshine. There is a feeling of revived energy on campus as Spring approaches.
I was pleased to be able to attend some of the combined Middle and High Schools' Student Council Meeting this week. They are an impressive group of young people, committed to guiding, supporting and growing further their school. I would like to thank them formally for all that they do.
Best wishes also go to our Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) group who will host their annual Trivia Night this evening, for PSI students and staff.
The Future is Now! Join us for an exciting celebration of learning at PSI next Tuesday, 19 March.
Parents are cordially invited to join us from 14:00 until 16:00 in the PSI Auditorium. We shall be sharing some of the great work, already underway, in regards to the skills identified by many as most significant for the future (complex problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, emotional intelligence, service orientation, cognitive flexibility, etc.). The event will be opened by one of our own parents, Wladimir Klitschko, a former athlete and founder of F.A.C.E the Challenge. Following the opening, we shall have a special student presentation. After this, the audience will be invited to visit the eclectic mix of booths and presentations run by both students and faculty.
Please come along to celebrate an array of exciting learning opportunities offered at PSI and to find out more about teachers' and students' passions and interests.
Parents of students taking part in the event have been notified by their section Principal already.
Please see here important information regarding student attendance at the event:

Join us for the 4th Annual Kyiv Inter-Schools Shakespeare Competition. The aim of this competition is to bring schools together to celebrate one of the greatest dramatic writers of all time and to share some of the timeless treasures that are Shakespeare's plays. The performances are mostly directed by students, acted by students and designed by students. It is a great joy to see students matching themselves with the best, and Shakespeare is the best! The Shakespeare Competition will be held in the PSI Auditorium on 23 March, 2019 at 18:00.
All the data acquired from the seven Core Values sessions has been recorded onto one document. We have decided to randomly select individuals from the lists of those who attended the first round sessions, in order to invite them for the final World Cafe, which will be held in April (the precise date will be shared soon). During this last round, our goal is to reach consensus on the 5 Core Values most important to our School, and to compose the PSI definitions for these. Thank you all for your participation in this important process. We shall have more news for you by the end of April.
News from the Green Committee
As part of our ongoing commitment to being a successful Eco-School, and in celebration of Earth Day, students from the school-wide Green Committee have designed a meat-free day in the school cafe and cafeteria on Monday 22 April. KFN will provide delicious and nutritious meat-and-fish-free meals on that day. Both vegetarian and vegan options will be available.
Our Green Committee has proposed this as a symbolic gesture to raise awareness of the impact of meat consumption on the planet, and to encourage members of the community to consider the impact of their choices on our shared planet. We would like to encourage the whole community to celebrate the initiative of our students and join us in our meat-free Monday! However, if a family does wish to send in a packed lunch on this day which includes meat products, they certainly may do so.
REMINDER ~ Career Day
Pechersk School International is proud to announce its first ever Career Day event which we hope to make an annual tradition. It will be held on Wednesday, 24 April 2019 in PSI Secondary classrooms from 8:35 am until 11:25am.
The intention is that this event will spark students' interest in career opportunities that appeal to them.
We are identifying presenters and would like to extend an invitation to parents and friends of PSI students and and their families. If you or someone you know would be willing to speak about his / her career, please contact Secondary School Counsellor Michele Basu at email@example.com. Michele is working hard to organise an exciting event and would appreciate hearing from you by 22 March 2019 at the latest.
We would like each presenter to deliver a 15 minute (approximately) presentation to different groups of Grades 6 - 12 students. Following the presentations, students will have 15 minutes to pose questions and to discuss career-based opportunities with the presenters. We plan for most talks to be delivered in English. However, if you would like to speak in another language, please let Michele know.
Students will attend a variety of presentations, moving from class to class to do so.
