Teaching and Learning
PSI offers an academic curriculum using the authorised programmes of the IB.
These are regarded as prestigious, challenging and relevant to students’ learning needs for the 21st century as well as the circumstances of internationally mobile families from around the world. Our curriculum and activities are regularly reviewed for quality and suitability to ensure that we meet the evolving needs of our growing community.
PSI is proud to be the only school in Ukraine that offers the three International Baccalaureate programmes: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).
As you review our curriculum and assessment philosophy, you will find that the three IB programmes consistently focus on the following core elements:
- A focus on the learner as an individual
- An inquiry-based approach that puts learning in the hands of the student
- A curriculum that connects students to real-world contexts for their learning
- A wide range of assessment strategies to ensure that all students are able to successfully demonstrate what they know and can do
All of our instruction is in the English language apart from mother tongue or additional language classes.
PSI supports students with a strong English as an Additional Language programme, as well as through a Learning Support programme that is designed to meet the requirements of a small number of students with mild to moderate learning needs. Take a look at our website under Learning Support Programme for further information about these support systems.
For your reference, we publish the Primary Programme Guide, and Secondary Programme Guide, as well as the Parent / Student Handbook, which give an overview of our curriculum, assessment and expectations
