PSI Blue Sky Strategic Thinking Workshop:

Last Saturday, the PSI Board participated in a Blue Sky Thinking Workshop run by Adele Hodgson from ECIS.

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE


Dear Students, Parents and Community Members:

Over the coming weeks, I will focus on school management, organisation and communication. Do you know who leads all areas of the school and our organisational structure?

  • You will notice the Board of Governors manage the School Director.
  • The Director then manages all school operations and all school based leaders.

There are over 20 key people on our Organisational Charts to support families at PSI. The attached document will help you see these key positions and people leading PSI LINK.

Thank you to everyone involved for a wonderful and safe Week Without Walls programme. Following all the activities on Facebook, we have seen both wonderful learning and student connections taking place. I would like to thank the grade level leaders and all teachers involved for preparing the programmes, the many logistical arrangements and for keeping all the students very safe.

Dear Parents,

Collaboration appears in many forms and formats.  On Tuesday during the Parent Education Tuesday, we met with a group of parents to learn from each other about cultural attitudes towards attendance in school and when to keep your child home. Ms. Puia and I will be using this information as we develop and refine our Attendance Policy. Dear Parents,

As you read this, our Week Without Walls is coming to an end, and students are returning safely home. Please join me in thanking the teacher leaders and chaperones who have spent the last six months planning for these trips, and the last week spending time 24/7 with your children to ensure that they had safe, educational and enjoyable experiences.

Board of Governors Report No. 2 - 2016 / 2017

On 17th September  2016, the Board of Governors met for their Annual Retreat Workshop, led by Adele Hodgson from the European Council of International Schools at the Holiday Inn Kyiv Conference Room from 8:00 am - 4:00pm.

PE Uniform Feedback

We greatly appreciate the feedback given on the quality of the PE uniforms this year. Unfortunately, there are some differences in materials, thickness, colour and logo printing. We are reviewing the issues involved with the uniform company as well as  reviewing going out to ‘general tender’ later in the year (for the future). At this point we want to communicate the issues are important to us and are being reviewed in detail.
 

Winter Preparation / Planning

PSI is busy planning for winter, which begins with an action plan to prepare the campus and buses for snow. We distribute key documents, not to worry families or to preempt any danger in the city, but to keep the community informed of our emergency procedures and ongoing planning in this area.

Families should also be aware of our Community Emergency Communication Procedures which are used for any changes to school day arrangements or school closure situations LINK .

Phase 2 Building Project - What’s Happening In Week 17

This Week - Floors and walls are beginning added as part of the main building.

Next Week - Additional concrete walls panels continue to be added.

Next Meeting - The next ‘Building Project Update Meeting’ will be held on Tuesday, 27th September at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. All community members are invited to attend. The video of this meeting will be posted on MyPSI.

Extracurricular Activities (ECA) & Saturday Sports Programme (SSS) News

 

This Saturday, 24th September,  there are no SSS activities for Secondary School students due to the Week Without Walls programme. All Primary School ECAs and SSS activities are unchanged during this period.

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected for the PSI Boys Tennis Team to attend the CEESA Tennis Tournament in Prague: Ivan Kulyk, Volodymyr Lashkul, Mark Kulyk, Chris Toko, Connor Tobin Healy and William Cole. The tournament is 6th - 9th October 2016.

International Night 2016 will take place on Saturday 29th October. This is an all family event dedicated to celebrating our countries. Families and teachers team up by nation to showcase their unique food and culture. As usual, there will be a Student Parade of Nations to kick off the event.
