DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
Dear Students, Parents and Community Members:

On behalf of the PSI Board and staff I extend a warm welcome to the 2016 / 2017 school year. We have had a positive first week at PSI, with students settling into classes very quickly. I encourage all parents to be actively involved in the School by asking questions and presenting issues to teachers. Staff are available to meet with parents as often as needed. We are looking forward to a busy and productive year ahead.

PSI Board - I would like to introduce the PSI Board (LINK) to the community. These elected parents work very hard on school governance, policy and development plans. Look for them as parents in your grade levels and at school events.

PTA, Back To School, Picnic - This Sunday, 28th August is the PTA Back to School Picnic. This is an annual tradition to welcome new and returning families. The picnic runs from 2:00 to 4:00 at PSI. Please bring a picnic basket of your favourite food and drinks. Getting together and building relationships is important for teachers and parents.We hope to see you all on Sunday.

School / Home Communication Procedures

 
We begin the school year working on clear communication with the school community.

Monday Emails - Every Monday, you will receive an email from your Grade Level / Homeroom teacher that invites you to view learning topics, in classrooms, the weekly homework and classroom reminders for the week, too.

Security Systems / Procedures

 
Emergency Communication System - In the case of school or city wide emergency PSI has detailed policies for how we communicate with you, particularly if the school day needs to be shortened or cancelled. Please follow the Communication Policy LINK to this important information.

Student Absence Notification


Please contact absence@PSI.kiev.ua or call PSI Reception prior to 8.30 a.m. if a student is to be absent from school. It is important for security that we know all students are accounted for each day. Student’s absences are also carefully monitored by school leaders.

School Road Traffic / Parking Routines  

To avoid traffic problems by the school, parents are asked to always go up from Holosiivska St to Shkil'na St to drop off / pick up students at the main gate, and then go straight from the main gate (Shkil'na St) to Viktora Zabily St. Letter & Map.

ECA & Saturday Sports Programme News


We begin Season 1 ECAs on Monday 29th August and Super Saturday Sports on 3rd September. Please follow the LINK to register for all the Season 1 activities. For more information about the full ECA / SSS programme, please visit the ECA website.

Families will be notified of all ECA placements by email today (Friday, 26th August). Bus students with ECAs are automatically moved to the bus departing PSI at 4:00 pm.

There will be no ECA programme (Kinder to Grade 12) on Wednesday, 31st August and Thursday, 1st September (next week) due to the Back To School Curriculum Meetings. All students will leave PSI at 3:00 pm on these two days.

Season 1 Sign Ups: We have started signing up students for Season 1 sports, including Middle School Tennis, Middle and High School Football and also Middle / High School Cross Country. Students and parents need to complete the 4 documents linked below (3 online and 1 paper) before students can attend training / trial sessions starting next week.

Russian and English Lessons For Parents  


Parents are invited to join our free Russian and English lessons. Please come along to the lesson that you feel fits you best.
  • Starting 29th August: Russian for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced classes. Two classes per week at each level.
  • Starting 5th September: English Beginners class only. Two classes per week at this level.

6th September: First PTA Meeting at 8:30 am in the PSI Cafeteria. Please join us for our first meeting of the 2016 - 2017 school year. Lots of information about upcoming events and plans for the year will be shared.

9th September: PTA Newcomers Market Tour: Join us to tour a few markets and grocery stores. This is a chance to find out where to buy different kinds of products in Kyiv.
